January 28th, 2013

Dear Business Owner/Manager,

The Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society (CHRHS) will be hosting its 8th Annual Dinner Auction in support of the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum on April 6th, 2013. This event, which has become a very popular and much anticipated social occasion, will again be held at the Brightwood Golf & Country Club in Dartmouth. Last year we had a full house of approximately 170 guests and raised more than $23,000 in support of the Farm Museum. We expect this year’s event to be equally successful and are hopeful that you may be able to support us in this endeavor by donating an item for the auction.

The CHRHS champions the vibrant agricultural history of Cole Harbour and surrounding communities and brings its story to life at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum, “the Farm”.  This community museum was founded in 1978 and over the years, with the help of many volunteers and supporters, has grown to include a comprehensive collection of local farm, household and personal artifacts and archival materials.

The Museum is also a real farm with gardens and animals; goats, sheep, cows, pigs and poultry.  Under cultivation for over 200 years, the Farm connects us to our food and keeps small scale farming just a stone’s throw away from the urban communities who depend on it.   Each year we welcome over 20,000 visitors; the majority children and youth - in many cases it will be their first farm experience.

We believe that the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is an important part of the fabric of our community and we are dedicated to its continued success.  Any support that you can give us is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your help and generosity. If you have any questions or would like more information or tickets please do not hesitate to call me or our executive director, Janice Kirkbright, at 434-0222.

Sincerely,

Judith Tulloch, Chair
