Our seasonal fundraising campaign to care for our animals needs your help! The animal program costs approximately $5000 per season in direct costs for feed, bedding, supplies and transportation, and the Farm receives no direct support toward this. The Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society is pleased to announce the launch of its third virtual exhibit for the Virtual Museum of Canada; Crossing Cole Harbour: From Ferry to Dyke then Rail to Trail, a part of the Community Stories Program of the Canadian Museum of History. “Feed the Farm” is back; our annual crowdsourcing campaign to help us to maintain our farm animal program. Now in its 4th year, this campaign goes a long way toward covering our animal program costs; feed, transport, bedding, housing and other essential care. The Farm believes in the value of keeping farm animals in the public eye; for education, interpretation and enjoyment. We also believe in the importance of spreading awareness of these animals’ natural behaviours and personalities. This is made possible be ensuring access to adequate space and fresh air, play and stimulation, comfortable quarters, optimum nutrition and the company of their own kind. Our pop-up farmers market returns for the 2018 season, beginning Wednesday, May 30. Market hours are 3 to 6pm each Wednesday. Market vendors will include Shani’s Farm of Windsor, Skeldale Farm of West Lawrenctown, and Snails Pace Gardens of Musquodoboit, plus the Farm Museum’s own table with seasonal produce and tearoom baking.
