A Walk in the Park

Join us for A Walk in the Park with the Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society and Cole Harbour Parks and Trails Association on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. All funds raised support operations at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum, the Cole Harbour Heritage Park, and the Salt Marsh Trail.
Routes range from 1 km (Jerry Lonecloud Trail) to 13.5 km (full length of the Salt Marsh Trail, return). Begin your walk at the Cole Harbour Heritage Park program building (256 Bissett Road) or on the Salt Marsh Trail (806 Bissett Road). There will be fun and engaging Education Stations and guides along all the routes to add to your fun on the walk!

What should I bring? Don’t forget your registration form, registration fee or collected donations, water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a smile!
How do I find the Education Stations? Most of the Education Stations are located on the designated routes in the Cole Harbour Heritage Park, with a few near the trailhead along the Salt Marsh Trail. Ask our event volunteers for help discovering them all!
Do I have to follow one of the routes? No. Our proposed routes (coming soon) are suggestions. Feel free to customize your route however you like. Participation is all that matters!

Pay your registration fee
This event is a fundraiser for the Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society (with the Cole Harbour Parks and Trails Association). Registration fees are considered charitable donations, and donations of $25 or more are eligible for a tax receipt. Registration is on a sliding scale, so you decide what amount is best for you/your family.

Cole Harbour’s natural and cultural heritage needs protecting, and we can’t do it alone! Fundraise to maximize your impact! Rally your friends and family to support your walk and efforts to preserve Cole Harbour’s natural and cultural heritage. You don’t need to walk to fundraise, and you don’t need to fundraise to walk. But if you can do both, that’s great! There are special prizes for the top individual fundraiser and the top fundraising team!Top Individual Fundraiser:
- A $50 gift certificate to the Rose & Kettle Tearoom at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum

Questions & Answers
Is there parking available for the event? Yes, there is parking available at the Cole Harbour Heritage Park and the Salt Marsh trailhead. The overflow parking lot at the former Rehabilitation Centre is not available due to construction. We encourage you to carpool or bike, if possible, as spaces are limited. Are there washrooms available on-site? Yes, there are vault toilets on-site.- One at the Program building.
- One on the Poors Farm Trail just past the Poors Farm site – about 1.3 km in on the Big Loop route.
- One on the Salt Marsh Trail at about the 1 km mark – right next to the turning point of the Salt Marsh Walk route.
