Introduction to Blacksmithing

Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum 471 Poplar Drive, Cole Harbour

Join us on Thursday, November 21st, 2024 from 9am to 4pm, at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum for a one day “Introduction to Blacksmithing.” The workshop takes place inside our historic Blacksmith Shop, a working shop developed within one of the site’s original heritage barns. The workshop gets underway at 9am. You’ll start with a brief presentation by the Blacksmith (fresh coffee provided!) on the process of blacksmithing and the role of the Blacksmith in the community. Once you’ve completed the presentation you will head to the forge where, under the instruction and guidance of the Blacksmith, you will create your own project to take home (project has been pre-selected to optimize learning outcomes). On Sunday October 27th from 7:00 - 9:00pm, the Storytellers Circle of Halifax and the Helen Creighton Folklore Society present: Ghostly Gala at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum! Prepare for a truly spooky experience as the Tellers recite ghostly tales and spooky stories. By the end of the evening you'll be filled with the spirit of Halloween! There will be 3 stations which you'll travel through, each with its own stories to tell:The Ghostly Giles HouseThe Spooky Settle BarnThe Haunted Harris House Costumes encouraged!
