Introduction to Blacksmithing Workshop (May 2024)

Join us on Saturday, May 25th, from 9am to 4pm, at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum for a one day “Introduction to Blacksmithing”. The workshop takes place inside our historic Blacksmith Shop, a working shop developed within one of the site’s original heritage barns. The workshop gets underway at 9am. You’ll start with a brief presentation by the Blacksmith (fresh coffee provided!) on the process of blacksmithing and the role of the Blacksmith in the community. Once you’ve completed the presentation you will head to the forge where, under the instruction and guidance of the Blacksmith, you will create your own project to take home (project has been pre-selected to optimize learning outcomes). Fibre Frolic 2024

Join us for sheep shearing, a colourful fibre marketplace, hands-on demonstrations, a wool discovery area for kids, and the frolic grill! Try a new craft, talk to fibre artisans, meet the sheep, and find the right materials for your next creation. ~ Fun, family-friendly event! ~ Free parking! ~ Free admission! A Little Bit Country

Get out your cowboy boots and come on down to the Farm for a music-filled night featuring Jason Price! A country music singer hailing from Lawrencetown, Jason will be sure to have the Farmyard feeling a little bit country. There will be a Taco Bar served by everyone's favourite Rose & Kettle Tearoom staff, as well as margaritas and cold beer, all available for purchase in the farmyard. FEAST: A Farm to Table Dining Experience

Gather in the farmyard for our highly anticipated FEAST, returning August 31st, 6-9pm. This event celebrates the abundance of fresh, local, quality Nova Scotian food available during late summer. Tickets for this event will go on sale Wednesday, August 7th. A total of 34 tickets will be available for purchase. Members of the Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society (CHRHS) will gain access to a password protected shop link at 9:00am. Early member access will close at 12:00pm. A Walk in the Park

Join us on Saturday, September 28, between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm at the Cole Harbour Heritage Park! This family-friendly walk-a-thon style event includes trail options for all ages and abilities! Choose between five different routes in the Cole Harbour Heritage Park or on the Salt Marsh Trail, ranging from 1-13 kilometers. You will find fun and engaging Education Stations along the trails, facilitated by our members and partner organizations. There will be stations for birdwatching, wildlife drawing, children’s activities, and more! Celebrate the completion of your walk at the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm! Soap Making Workshop

A two-part artisan soap making workshop on Friday, October 25th, 6 – 9 pm and Saturday, October 26th, 6 – 7 pm, which will feature Nova Scotian soap maker Maggie Jenkins of Saltmarsh Soaps. Maggie has dedicated over 6 years to learning and mastering the craft. “The aspect of soap making that keeps me interested, is that every batch can be customized to what you want to create, you have complete control over the ingredients, the design, and the process from start to finish. I never get bored!” Participants will be taught everything they need to know to safely make their own cold process soaps from scratch.
